Project Overview
Our objective was to redesign and improve the user experience upon the exisiting RESANEC NDIS support planner platform in order to help people build their NDIS support pre plans and help improve the quality of their lives. Currently there is no system that allows people to create these plans online, people must undertake a lengthy and complex paper process in order to obtain the support they need. The major challenge we faced was designing a simple platform that guided people through this process allowing them to confidently build a support pre plan that helped them achieve the support they need.
Achievements
Based upon research with our users we where able to design a support pre-planner that is simple to understand and use. This platform allows people to focus on critical tasks and continually move towards completing a support pre plan. We have carefully crafted the interface and text to help people intuitively understand what is required at each stage, educate, and aid them during their pre plan construction in order so they can get the most out their plan and obtain the support they need to improve their lives. We designed this system in accordance with the accessibility design standards and our design decisions were validated through a interactive testing and prototyping process with real NDIS support plan users
UX Challenges
Obtaining Needs: Users needed a way to obtain specific support requirements & services easily. They required a system that is simple to understand and use that helps them get access to their support service needs.  

Improve The Quality Of Life:
People expressed their primary goal was to improve the quality of their lives. This was usually associated with a desire to improve their mental & physical health. People would also express strong desires to become more involved with community activities and to receive more assistance with personal care in order to facilitate their independence

Pains:  Currently in order to receive support people need to complete a complex and time consuming process. People also found it difficult to understand what was exactly required from them.
UX Solutions
Plan Flow: This platform guides people through the pre plan building process in 4 sections. This process prepares people to think deeply and critically about what they need and want to achieve. Allowing them to accurately request activities they wish to be involved with and access the support services they require.

Long Term Goals: We helped people frame their support needs in the context of goal based objectives. This method helps facilitate peoples independence and improve the quality of their lives.

Accessibility: Using accessible design methods such as high contrast design, appropriate text sizing , avoiding hiding important information and utilising simple language helps our users use this platform in a pain free manner.
